IPL: A fantasy dream to win big

Cricket is a sport for the rest of the world but for us Indians it is a religion. Indian Premiere League, a season of intriguing competitive cricket featuring players from almost all parts of cricket playing nations is no less than a big festival season.

While IPL generate lot of wealth for its investors, entertainment for its fans, and employment to lakhs of people directly or indirectly related to the sport industry. There is a risky side to this extraordinarily celebrated sport too. Many of you can easily guess it, BETTING!

While Betting is allowed in sports in many parts of the world, in India it has been banned due to some genuine reasons. The betting industry started reaching out to players and lured them into corruption destroying the faith of the fans and enthusiasts of the sport.

There are no explicit rules regarding to online gambling and the excitement,hope  of winning big money has made this industry money minting industry of this generation. The meteoric rise of this industry has attracted the interest and attention from all age groups. Be it young, old or a college student.

These platforms allowing betting can be addictive and in an unequal society like India where most of the population is working middle class and below poverty line, it can prove fatal too. There hasnt been a great focus on imparting education for financial awareness and it has resulted in people taking more than expected risks in hope of making some money.

While this is considered a game of skill, caution is recommended before signing up for them as financial risk is involved. Whether it should be allowed or banned is a topic of debate for many. the rise of a fantasy app as brand ambassdor of IPL has hinted that this industry is here to stay and slay.
